Progress 1968
Conceived and developed by African Street Style in collaboration with Decolonising the Archiveand Ada Cotton, Progress 1968 is a short film exploring a pivotal moment in the social and political history of the African diaspora. Combining an original musical score, poetry, dance, interviews, and contributions from artists and academics, the film creates a layered reflection on identity, resistance, culture and memory.
Spanning the cities of London, Kingston, Paris and Rio, alongside reflections on Guinea-Bissau and the Biafra region, Progress 1968 connects global stories of liberation, migration and creative expression.
The film has been presented internationally, including at the Aesthetica Art Prize, the Dakar Biennale, and Goldsmiths, University of London in 2024.
